My Summer Tilda

Hello, Friends and Happy Hump Day! We are in the middle of our week and I am looking forward to the weekend already. I start some vacation time from work on Friday through all next week. I hope to be spending some of that time in my craft studio.

On Friday, my DH and I are making a trip to Canon City in Colorado to look at Mustangs up for adoption through the WHIP program. In order to get our adoption application approved we need to put new fencing around our corral as the current one is 4 inches short of their standard requirements. Ugh…4 inches! However, our burro corral is at the 5 foot requirement but it needs a new gate. So we will be installing that this evening. Once the horses are gentled in their new home we can put them in the horse corral which is 3 times the size of the burro corral. I hope to post some photos when we are accepted so if you are a horse love stay tuned.

I have a new card to share and post for some challenges today. I made this a few months ago but never put it on my blog. I have several cards that have not been posted but sometimes writing the post seems like such a chore since that is what I do at my J-O-B all day…write.
This card features an older Magnolia stamp, Sitting Summer Tilda and I masked her on the Spring Fence. I colored my image with Copics and added Turquoise Stickles to the polka dots of her shirt, heart patch and hair bow. I also gave her wings a coat of Stardust Stickles. The DPs are from Heidi Grace and cardstock is from Bazzill. I kept the design very simple using my Old Swedish Lace die cut at the top and bottom edge, a few flowers, and satin ribbon with a bow.
I added my “You are my best friend” Magnolia sentiment, curled for dimension with light turquoise pearls at each end. Here’s a close up shot of Tilda. I imagine that she is sitting on her fence watching the horses play in the pasture.
The inside of my card has similar elements from the front for both panels. It’s not often that I decorate both panels of the inside but I really love these papers.

Supplies:
Cardstock – Bazzill
DPs – Heidi Grace
Flowers – WOC; Prima
Dies/Punches – Magnolia
Stickles – Ranger
Ribbon – The Ribbon Spot
Pearls – Hero Arts

I’m entering this card in the following Challenges:

Magnolia Stamp Lovers – Sugar, Tilda only
Totally Tilda – Tilda and Magnolia Sentiment
Simon Says Stamp – Anything Goes

Thanks for popping in to visit and have a great week…

I Brake for Lovely Asian Dresses

Hi, Braker Fans. I’m back with another I Brake for Stamps Tuesday DT project. This week I’m using another stamp from the “Asian Full Set Collection called Asian Dress.”
I stamped it with Memento Tuxedo Black ink onto red designer paper from Piggy Tales then cut out the dress and attached it to white cardstock. I inked the edges of most of the pattern paper panels and used white acrylic paint to distress the edges of my bamboo pattern paper.
I punched two flowers and attached them to the dress with a pretty pearl to direct the eye toward the dress. Finally, I added a couple flower arrangements and a flourish die cut and called it done.

Supplies:

Stamps – Asian Dress, IBFS
DPs - Piggy Tales
Cardstock – The Paper Company
Punches/Die Cuts - Marianne Designs; Nellie Snellen
Distress Ink – Colorbox
Acrylic Paint - Making Memories
Pearls/Gems – Queen & Co.
Flowers – WOC; Recollections

You can get this Asian stamp as a set or individually at I Brake for Stamps online store. Use my coupon code SAVE10CATHY for 10% off your purchase.

Midweek Magnolias - Elegance

Hello, Friends and Happy Hump Day! The Midweek Magnolias Design Team has a new challenge for you and this week we want to see your card or project of “Elegance.” So head over to Midweek Magnolias for some awesome inspiration from the DT and leave some love on their blogs. When you join us for the challenge you’ll have a chance to win a fabulous mystery prize from Magnolia Sweden.

My card features the lovely “Prom Queen Tilda.” I colored her in Copics, cut her out and mounted her on a Spellbinders circle and scallop die cut.
I used black and pink Bazzill cardstock with a pretty DP from Echo Park’s Be Mine collection. I cut two strips of Wild Orchid Craft black lace and attached it to the card with pink cardstock that was punched with a Martha Stewart punch and lace along the middle.
I added some flowers from WOC and Hobby Lobby with a stick pin that I made with beads from my stash. I didn’t have any large black flowers so I sprayed a white rose with graphite Glimmer Mist. My butterfly die cut is from Memory Box cut from silver shimmer paper from The Paper Co. and I put a little black Stickles on his body. Then I gave Tilda’s tiara a coat of silver Stickles and added several pink rhinestones. Tilda’s shoes also got a coat of Glossy Accents.
Here’s the inside of my card ready for a personal message or sentiment.

Supplies:
Cardstock – Bazzill; the Paper Company
DPs – Echo Park
Flowers – WOC; Hobby Lobby
Dies/Punches – Martha Stewart; Memory Box; Spellbinders
Rhinestones – Hero Arts
Lace – WOC; Martha Stewart
Other – Stickles & Glossy Accents, Ranger

I’m entering this project in the following Challenges:

I Brake for Mums

Hi, Braker Fans. I’m back with another I Brake for Stamps Tuesday DT project. I know it’s almost Wednesday. I got so busy at work early this morning that I didn’t have time to post my card. But never fear, my card is here. This week I used a gorgeous stamp from the “Asian Full Set - Large Mum.” I love stamps like these because you can use some cool techniques with them as I'm about to demonstrate.
I started with pumpkin Bazzill cardstock for my card base and added a panel of white cardstock sprayed with Gold Glimmer Mist. I used water color paper for my Mum randomly covered with Wild Honey and Peeled Paint Distress ink using my Ranger ink sponges. Then I sprayed the stamp with Iridescent Glimmer Mist before stamping it on the paper. This gives the image a shimmery water color effect. Then I distressed the edges of the panel with Peeled Paint before I attached it to the card.
My sentiment was stamped with Wild Honey and Peeled Paint Distress ink. The paper flowers were sprayed with Lily Pad and Gold Glimmer Mist and I added a few pearls and gems. This shot shows a bit of the shimmer from the Glimmer Mist.

Supplies:
Stamps – Large Mum, IBFS; Sentiment, Hero Arts
Cardstock – Bazzill, The Paper Company
Distress Ink – Ranger
Pearls/Gems – Hero Arts
Flowers – Hero Arts

You can get this Asian stamp as a set or individually at I Brake for Stamps online store. Use my coupon code SAVE10CATHY for 10% off your purchase.

I'll see you tomorrow morning with a new Midweek Magnolias Challenge card...

Once Upon a Time...

Hello, Friends! I hope you are all enjoying your summer. It has been very warm here in Colorado which makes us stay indoors with the air-conditioning and allows me to spend time in my craft studio. However, we are heading into our monsoon season and that will help keep the temps down in the afternoon.

I made a card earlier this week and I’m just now getting around to posting it. I’ve had this “Tilda with Apple” forever it seems and finally made a card with her. She reminds me so much of Snow White that I tailored her dress for the character. I don’t know about you but I am a huge Disney fan and always have been.
I used some pretty Magnolia papers with Bazzill cardstock. I distressed my butterfly paper and several of my die cuts with Forest Moss and Faded Jeans Distress ink. The green cardstock panel was embossed with a Cuttlebug Flower Embossing folder. Then I sponged Faded Jeans over the flowers to make them stand out and distressed the edges with Forest Moss.
For Tilda’s frame I used some white acrylic paint to distress the edges of my blue pattern paper then mounted my image with foam tape for dimension and added a strip of lace under the frame. I used my Memory Box, Meridian Border die as a banner by cutting slits between the scallops to allow it to bend naturally. Finally, I added my distressed fence and Honey Blossom die cuts and flowers.
I die cut my Magnolia Scalloped Tag, distressed with Faded Jeans and ran it through my printer for my sentiment then attached a seam binding bow.
I replicated some elements from the front of my card for the inside, ready for a personal message.
These are the Copics I used to color Tilda.

Supplies:
Cardstock – Bazzill
DPs – Magnolia
Flowers – WOC & Magnolia
Dies/Punches – Magnolia & Memory Box
Lace Trim – JoAnn’s
Embossing Folder – Cuttlebug
Distress Ink – Ranger
Seam Binding – WOC

I’m entering this card in the following Challenges:

Wild Orchid Crafts – Shabby Chic
Make It Monday – Linky Party
Thanks for stopping by...Have a great weekend.

I Brake for Love

Hi, Braker Fans. I’m back with another I Brake for Stamps Tuesday DT project. My card this week features a LOVE stamp from the store called “Large 1 Corinthians.”
This gorgeous stamp fits so perfectly in the Spellbinders Scallop Heart Nestabilities; I couldn’t have gotten luckier to make it really stand out. I stamped it on the reverse side of my Bazzill cardstock for a smooth finish. The cardstock is otherwise the corduroy texture. I also used a little Forest Moss Distress Ink around the edges of my heart shape.
The designer papers are from K & Company, Julianne collection. I used my sewing machine to give the edge a finished look and added sheer ribbon and a metal flower embellishment to the middle of my bow.

Supplies:
Cardstock – Bazzill
DPs – K & Company
Dies/Punches – Spellbinders
Metal Flower – The Paper Studio
Ribbon – The Ribbon Spot

I'm entering this card in the following Challenges:

Make It Monday - Linky Party

Color Me Creative Guest Designer

Hello, Friends! I was invited to join the CMC Challenge group as Guest Designer. So, today I’m sharing a card I made for the theme this challenge which is Navy or Dark Blues.
My card features the lovely “Traveling Tilda” and “Suitcase with Sign” both from the 2010 Bon Voyage Collection. I colored them in Copics and I gave the suitcase a Zebra print. Our wonderful Team Leader at CMC, Suzanne Dean, loves zebra print so I colored this in her honor. I am so proud to be a member of the CMC Classroom now for 3 years and have learned so many Copic coloring techniques in Suzanne's classroom. I have also taken the Distress Ink Coloring, Magnolia Coloring and Prisma Color Pencil classes she offers. This is the best place I've found to learn or brush up on coloring skills with these mediums.
My DPs are from Papertrey Ink called Postmarks. I used some new die cuts on my card. The simple banner is from Poppy Stamps, the Garden Corner is from SCACD, and the Eiffel Tower is a Silhouette Cameo cutting file from Snapdragon Snippets.
Here's a closeup of Tilda. I covered the suitcase hinges with silver Stickles and Tilda’s shoes got a coat of Glossy Accents.
These are the Copics I used to color Tilda and her suitcase.

Supplies:
Cardstock – Bazzill
DPs – PTI
Flowers – WOC
Dies/Punches – Poppy Stamps; SCACD; Silhouette
Lace Trim – Simplicity
Feathers – Michaels

I’m entering this card in the following Challenges:

Make It Monday – Linky Party
The OutLawz Copic/Promarker - Vacation Destination

I hope my card inspires you to join us for the challenge at CMC. Go check out the lovely DT members’ projects as they are so talented.

I Brake for Freedom

Happy July 4th, Friends. I’m back with another I Brake for Stamps Tuesday DT project. This post is short as I have so much going on here at home.

My card is a sneak peak of the IBFS Challenge that will be posted tomorrow. My card features a digi stamp from the store called “Large Flag.
I used some festive stars and stripes designer papers from DCWV. I’ve had these for years and I had thought I’d given them away but apparently they were still in my stash. Good thing because they are perfect for my Independence Day theme.
I used my Adobe Photoshop software to color the flag since it’s originally in gray scale. I added a few stars with a punch and outlined them with Stickles. Some flowers and the “Freedom” sentiment finished the card. I enjoy making simple cards occasionally because they are so fast easy to put together.

Supplies:
Cardstock – The Paper Company; DCWV
DPs – DCWV
Dies/Punches – Marvy Uchida; Spellbinders
Flowers – Prima; WOC
Stickles – Red and Stardust, Ranger

You can get this stamp at I Brake for Stamps online store. Use my coupon code SAVE10CATHY for 10% off your purchase.
